We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of our fleet of waste collection vehicles.

Responsibilities

Your Role:

The Maintenance Manager plans, organizes and supervises the Division's maintenance staff and functions. This management position holds responsible for overall fleet/equipment support and associated maintenance processes that include inspection, repair, pre/post servicing, vehicle distribution, quality assurance and disposal Perform diagnostic tests on garbage trucks and other diesel-powered equipment to identify issues.

 

  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles, ensuring they are safe and operational
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life
  • Manage and supervise a team of mechanics and technicians, providing guidance and support
  • Monitor and analyze fleet performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements
  • Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to optimize fleet utilization and efficiency
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
  • Manage the budget for fleet operations, including parts, labor, and equipment costs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers for parts and services
  • Conduct regular safety training and ensure adherence to safety protocols

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a technician, preferably in the waste management or transportation industry
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vehicle maintenance
  • Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems, emission systems, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic and electrical systems.  Experience leading a team also helpful.  
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in using fleet management software and other relevant computer applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
