Responsibilities

Your Role:

As an MRF/ Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanic you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and machinery used in our Material Recovery Facility (MRF). This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

  • Maintaining & repairing all yellow iron (heavy equipment) – Conveyor system, Volvo, Morbark Grinder and Doppstadt Shredder
  • Diagnosing and repairing all engines (gas & diesel), transmissions, hydraulics, electric motors (5 – 50 hp) 
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Utilize service manuals and schematics to perform accurate repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations
  • Collaborate with operations staff to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks
  • Manage inventory of parts and supplies needed for equipment maintenance
  • Provide technical support and training to other team members as needed

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in the waste management or construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects 50+ pounds
